The DMV is known for it's "First District" -- the domination of politics, international relations is known by everyone. But there is, however, a "Second District," one that people fail to recognize -- the heavy, vibrant music scene that has come to represent the area in various ways. We at SDR want to embrace the music, talent, and diversity of the DMV -- we believe in the power of being different. 

Second District Records evolved out of Kogod's Business and Entertainment (BAE) program at American University. An entirely student-run independent record label, SDR became an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the music industry while they are still in school. Originally begun as a Music business club, with assistance from AU Program Director of Business and Entertainment, John Simson, SDR has been successful promoting three EP's in the last three years.
